Mokmer

Welcome to the home of the island of Mokmer. Mokmer is a tropical island located above West Papua New Guniea. After Indonesia invaded West Papua New Guinea, they renamed the island Biak and that is what it is known as today. Biak is also known as the "city of coral". During the early 1940’s, Biak was a base for either Japanese or Allied Forces during World War 2.

On the north coast, 40 km from Biak, the Bay of Korim is surrounded by rocks and jungle, where one can watch young men dive for pearls. Supiori Island, just north of Biak, has a wilderness reserve and traditional villages where visitors are welcome. Mokmer.com is under construction and will be launched in mid June 2005 at this location.
